What are the best beaches in Chicago?

What are the best beaches of Chicago?

  • Answer:

North Avenue Beach and Oak Street Beach are good for people watching. The Jackson park beach across Lake Shore Drive from the Museum of Science and Industry is one of the best kept secrets. It can get a little packed on weekends with local residents and University of Chicago students, but it's still cool. Osterman Beach near Foster Ave. on the North Side is great. They have volleyball nets, basketball courts, it's near the bike path and you can park right near the beach (You can't do that with most of the other beaches in Chicago). The Rogers Park beaches are cool and I think you can take sailboat lessons there. Not a lot of sand area but nice.

Oak Street Beach. Just go north on Lake Shore Drive (LSD) and you will see the exit to the beach along the side of the road. You can also visit Lincoln Park Zoo and take the bridge that stretches over LSD that leads to the beach as well.

There are no good beaches in Chicago. Head to the Indiana Dunes National Lake Shore.
