Do you think the Chicago Spire will make the Chicago skyline better or worse?

(If it even gets started of course) Here is Chicago's skyline as it is: http://www.richard-seaman.com/USA/Cities/Chicago/Landmarks/ChicagoAtNight1.jpg This skyline is often known as one of the best in the world. Here is a picture of the projected skyline with the Chicago SPire: http://sustainabledesignupdate.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/06/chicago_spire600.jpg And I believe the Spire would not be as lit up as in the picture. The Spire would be more than 500 feet taller than the Sears Tower. What are your thoughts on the skyline? Better or worse with the Spire?

I think the Spire will be a nice addition to the skyline. I think the addition of the spire will help attract more skyscraper builders. I think the only competition for Chicago right now for best skyline in the world is Hong Kong. Lets work towards having the undisputed best!

As far as the two photographs you provided, I personally believe that it would look better without the Spire. My main concern would be similar to what you pointed out: the brightness of the Spire. I do not believe that the Spire would damage the Chicago Skyline too much, were it not so bright.

I think it looks absolutely beautiful without the Spire. You know, a lot of times the saying "less is more" holds true. This is one of those times, I think.
