What to do when you're alone and bored in Boston, MA on a weekend?
-
So, I moved into Boston fairly recently...and if there's one thing I've noticed it's that I've been bored out of my mind when none of my friends are available to hang out (which seems to be pretty often these days). Maybe I lack creativity or motivation...or maybe I just don't know enough about the area...hence the reason I'm asking everyone out there. What is there to do in Boston, or anywhere for that matter, when you're alone and bored and 26? Can't go to bars alone...that's just stupid. So what? What do you guys like to do that doesn't involve giving up and staying home? I can usually cope with being bored and alone during the week...gotta get up early for work, anyway. But the weekends? Come on! There must be something better to do!

Check out an exhibition at the Museum of Fine Arts, which closes at 9:45pm on Fridays. Read a good book/write/sketch while sipping on espresso at a quiet cafe. Caffe Paradiso used to be open til 12am but I hear it's closed now... Go to a jazz club, have a drink, and enjoy some good music. Regattabar is supposed to be one of the best jazz clubs in Boston according to some reviews I've read. Never actually never been there myself, though. If you're into photography, you can always just explore the city and take pictures.

If you're new to the city and looking to meet some new people give http://www.Meetin.org/ a try. There are groups world wide. Each city has a chapter with members. Members propose and host events. For example, if someone wants to see "War" they could just set up the date, time etc and it would be added to the calendar. Then, other members can sign up to attend the event. Most chapters have monthly meet n' mingle events to welcome new members. You don't have to wait for that to get started. If you see something you want to join, just rsvp and get going! AND, there are no membership fees, no mark up. You just pay for what you do, ie, movie ticket, meal, etc. Join Meetin.org and have a GREAT weekend. :)

Boston is an excellent city. There is so much to see and do in the city and surrounding areas. I've been there a few times, and yes I was in my 20's and early 30's. If you're bored in Boston it is your own fault. Take a tour... take a drive... go for a walk downtown... play tourist... you never know what you'll find ! Fanueil (?) hall and the market place is a great way to spend a saturday.

Best part of Boston is that you can walk just about anywhere. I would suggest going and "getting lost", walk around the city. You'll learn a lot, people watch, kill sometime, be outside on a nice day, etc. Just walk around and see where you end up. Lots of museums, which are fun even when you're alone.
