Colleges you loved in new england area, preferably Rhode Island, Massachusetts, or New York?
-
I've been looking at colleges such as Roger Williams, Salve Regina, Adelphi, Hofstra, Holy Cross, and BU..but no one in my family graduated from any of these universities, just mostly the colleges here in CT where I live. Thus, I haven't been able to talk to anyone about the ones I'm interested in..not with anyone that has been there personally anyway. Any colleges you absolutely loved in the New England area? and why? thank you! :)

Answer:
Although it is generally recognized that college is "what you make it" I can't help but be biased. I am a recent Summa graduate from the University of Rhode Island and I can't say enough about it. If you really want some independence in your college lifestyle, and a good balance between academics and a social life, URI is the place to be. You'll be living off campus, by the beach, probably in your sophmore or junior year as a majority of undergraduates choose to go this route. It is also easy to work while taking a full course load- I have held two jobs- as a TA and at a local nonprofit since my sophmore year. URI offers great part-time employee opportunities to undergraduates. I was accepted to Brown, Northeastern, BU and PC and chose to attend URI. The other schools I can comment on are Roger Williams (I was raised in Bristol) and Salve Regina (I have lived in Newport). Although both have extremely nice campuses (also on the water) I would advise staying away from smaller, lesser known schools like these. The last thing you want is a potential employer not being able to recognize your alma mater on your resume. Hope this helps!

I have lived here in Boston all my life and I am 26 now and there are a wicked lot of good colleges. Harvard MIT UMASS BU BC TUFTS I went to school in CT but most of the kids I graduated high school with in 2001 went to the above colleges and loved them. Just so you know if you get accepted into BC and get a full scholarship you have to live on campus even if you live right down the street from there.

i go to suffolk university in boston and love it but i originally from ri and roger williams and salve are nice but they are mostly beautiful in the summer/spring unfor. not the time ull be in school and there isnt much to do around there during the winter so in my opinion going to school in boston is ideal because there is always something to do in all seasons

If you go to the College fairs held at high schools you can talk with alumni from just about every college in New England.

Out of your list, if you don't mind living in the city, I would recommend BU. Look into UMass Amherst. I LOVED IT. A great school, good size, fun, good class choices, I didn't want to be in the city so it was a good location.
