Is there any good private high school near Boston?

Is Holbrook,MA is a good place to live and commute to Boston? Good School system?

  • We plan to move in Boston area very soon. My wife will work in Cambridge. I will find a job in Boston area. We want to live south of Boston. Does Holbrook town has good school system and easy to commute to Boston and Cambridge? Any other town with easy to commute, good school system & low house price? How long does to take from Holbrook to drive or by train to Braintree? Thanks in advance for your input.

    Holbrook is a pretty town. It is an easy commute to Boston and Cambridge and can be accomplished completely by public transportation. The #230 bus (MBTA) goes through the heart of Holbrook (Rt 37). The bus originates at Montello Commuter rail station and terminates in Quincy Center. At Braintree T station or at the Quincy T station, the Red line subway goes directly to Cambridge. The school system isn't bad, but because the student population is small, the schools offer limited choices. Thayer Academy or Archbishop Williams High School (Both in Braintree and on the 230 route) might be an attractive alternative.

As I recall, Holbrook was one of the communities that had a severe squeeze some years ago because the town voters refused to approve a supplementary tax to support schools and other town services but I know not the situation now. Served by Purple Like commuter trains or the Red Line subway at Braintree Holbrook is a convenient commute to Boston.
