Creative party ideas for wife's X0th birthday party in Boston (or nearby)?

  • Hi everyone, My wife is a special kind of awesome. The kind where she doesn't have a clue how much I and the people around her love her. Her X0th (shh, secret) birthday is this week, but will pass without a party due to travel. I want to schedule something for her and all of our friends for the first or second weekend in August. It can be overnight. I really want it to be something special and unique (but not unbearably expensive - think <$2k). What are your ideas? 15-30 people, ideally in the Boston area (fewer will travel). PLEASE let me know what you think we could do. Ideas so far: Rent yacht in Boston harbor ($2500 for 4hrs - no) Rent 3-4BR apt in Manhattan for two nights, dinner and shows - have yet to find the right place ($600/night is fine, but all the nice places are booked) Dinner at a restaurant (did that and a day at Nashoba Winery last year) Rent event venue in Boston and have a masquerade party (open to more people) Bonfire party on a beach with a catered meal (cant find a beach that allows this in MA) Any and all ideas are welcome, however, comedy shows, blue man group, F1 boston, paintball, and other similar ideas are not quite for her.

How about a scavenger hunt/surprise party? You could pick a few people closer to her to help you out. She would start with you and 2 clues and have know where to go based on one clue and who to meet based on the other. That person would then give her the next set of clues. Ultimately it would lead back to you being the person meeting her and you would give her one final clue to get you to the final location, where everyone along the way plus the other people celebrating would all be for drinks on a deck or something. Whiskey Priest on the waterfront has a great roof deck that they section off for private stuff. You could do drinks and apps there. **Edited to add: You could even make the last stop where you are to be a hotel you'll be staying at that night and she could change/freshen up if she wanted to. The Harbor Hotel is always beautiful and has such a nice brunch if you wanted some "couple time" the next morning**
