Where in Pittsburgh is a good place for mystery dinner theater?

Gift dinner for Coworker?

  • I have $150 to spend on a gift for a coworker who is moving to Austin in the next few weeks. I was thinking of purchasing a nice dinner and theater tickets (comedy club) for him and his wife. I looked for a nice dinner train or mystery train but could not turn up anything. The event would need to take place on a Friday or Saturday. I would prefer to make the purchase on line as I am a few states away. This gift is for some emergency response work he performed and the weeks on end he is away from his wife. I do not know their interests hence the reason for a comedy club dinner or mystery train. Their age is late twenties early thirties. Is there something that would show them the area and offer a nice dinner? Any suggestions on restaurants I can purchase a gift card from on line in the Austin area? Thank you for your help in advance!

    Why not get them tickets to a show with dinner included - anything where she gets to dress up and have him all to herself and not have to do dishes. After all, you're really thanking her for making the sacrifice of having him away! While you may not know her interests, I'm pretty sure any event that is classy or an excuse to dress up will make her happy. Maybe a romantic jazz evening? Or you could just get them season Gold Class tickets to the movies, so they can choose when they go out. Or how about booking them onto a tour in Austin? Are there any historical buildings or places they can visit to get to know the area? I think you are doing a wonderful, thoughtful thing.

This idea isn't exactly what you had in mind, but any true austinite will tell you that the Alamo Drafthouse is an Austin institution. The Alamo is a dinner and movie place. But it is funky and the owners are very inovative. Check out their website. You can get gift cards that will offer your coworker's flexibility.

I would get them gift cards to Chuy's, Whole Foods and Home Depot for $50 each. If they are moving, all three will come in handy. They'll need groceries, house supplies, and a place to get margaritas after a hard day of moving. They are coming to a great place!
