What are the best vacation spots in September?

Vacation spots close to austin?

  • I will be traveling with my boyfriend to visit my brother's family in Austin. We are planning on spending 3-4 nights with them, and 3-4 nights on our own. Are there any "vacation spots" where my boyfriend and I should stay that are within a short drive from Austin (within 3 hours)? My brother suggested Galveston, perhaps. But, I'm worried about the hurricane that hit last September, and what their recovery has been. Please advise.

    Galveston is too far. Especially when there is so much, so close. Suggestions: Lake Travis (swimming, camping, cliff diving), Burnett/ hill country (sight seeing, driving), Aquarena Springs in San Marcos (snorkelling, boating, swimming), San Antonio (river day). Whatever you do, be sure and plan on a bowl of XXX chile from the Texas Chile parlor in Austin. Tecate and lime (not lemons).

Georgetown is real nice. but there's tons of stuff to do just in Austin. Galveston is a mudhole. Plus it's a pretty good distance from Austin.

I live in the Austin area, and you wont need to leave here to have a great time. Hellooo, we are the Live Music Capital of the World! We have everything! From tons of water sport activities to the whole Keep Austin Weird part-of which is the best! I would check out Schliterbaun in New Braunfels, and their is always a quick trip to San Antonio or Dallas, all within a couple of hours. But like I said before Austin Texas is the greatest. OH, and you should drive our 1431 and spend some time on Lake Travis! Good Luck and have a safe trip!
