Are there any Paralegal schools in/around Austin?

Can someone suggest a nice suburb(s) with great schools in Austin?

  • We are planning on moving to Austin this fall. Someone please suggest a nice suburb(s) with great schools ?. We would like to stay away UT-Austin area to avoid crowds and too much of traffic.

  • Answer:

There are a lot of nice communities here, but which you choose should hinge at least partly on proximity to your work. Traffic is unbelievable, and you will save a lot of stress by minimizing commute. The major suburbs up north are Round Rock, Georgetown, Hutto, Leander, and Pflugerville - the general location of several tech companies. If you're planning to be working in town, Westlake and Barton Hills are near loop 360 and both are very nice, as is Tarrytown and Travis Heights if you're okay with being in the south/central area of Austin proper (these are all more a neighborhood than a suburb). The first community south of Austin is Buda just over the Hays County line, which is more rural because most of the urban sprawl over the last 20 years has gone north - but having lived up there and down south, I actually prefer being south by far, because of space and nature. Hays County schools are supposed to be very good, and there are several home developments between Buda and the next town (heading south), Kyle (also in Hays). However, traffic coming into Austin in the morning from these areas is nuts, so I would only live south if I worked no further north than about the University of TX area.

Westwood in rrisd is where you want your kids to go. The only highschool comparable is westlake but it is known as one of the richest areas in austin. north austin isnt so bad. The "long commute" is only bad if you have to go downtown ever day, its like a 20 minute drive.

It depends on where you are going to be working. The most popular suburbs are Round Rock, Cedar Park, and Leander, but they are all north of town. If you are going to work north, then they are all nice and have good schools. If you're going to be working south however, you will be setting yourself up for a horrible commute living in one of those. There are several really nice areas in South and Southwest Austin that aren't suburbs per se, but they are still relatively affordable, away from campus for close to downtown. Most of the growth has been north, so there aren't too many suburban cities south of town (yet). Another area to look at is Lakeway and Bee Cave - good schools and near the lake. There is a forum for relocation that has a lot of this information - you can search through the Austin forum and find most of this information - it's city-data.com/forum/

Cedar Park, or Steiner Ranch, Riverplace, Leander, Round Rock, all good places, still close enough to Austin but far from the chaos.
