I wanna move to Austin Texas, what are the best jobs out there.?
-
I wanna move to the Austin /Bertram area. Only problem is I've never been away from home and moving to a different state without my folks. I have very little education (currently working on my GED) By trade I'm in telemarketing and waitressing or delivering pizzas (hahahah) I do want to go to school to be a pre-school teacher or photographer. I'm open to any other career that doesnt take long and suggestions. I have family there but I want to make it on my own. Im looking for job information and apartment information. pays, affordability, statistics. Other peoples opinions about certain areas and jobs. I dont want web sites to go to unless there really good.

Answer:
You can probably pick up a job out here...but without some knowledge it will be hard to make it here...a room mate might work...Austin has become so overpopulated and over rated tho...do you really want to come here? The whole idea of "Austin" is based on the way of life that people USED to live here...we can't live that way any more because of people coming in in droves...they are bringing in their way of life and ruining the whole "Austin" idea...like the keep it weird campaign...Austin was original at one point in time...now...not so much...anyway...if you come here...good luck...it will be hard but i'm sure you can do it

There's lots of large call centers in the area, including some big ones like Apple and Dell. For call center positions they usually get people through temp agencies. I know Apple hires through Volt, so you may want to give them a call and see what kind of background/education you would need to land a position like that. They may require GED/HS diplomas, I don't know, but it would give you a good idea as to what other temp agencies would expect as well. Volt Services Group (North) 3303 Northland Dr., Ste. 205 Austin, TX 78731 Phone: 512/338-4444 http://www.jobs.volt.com/ The problem with Austin is there are a lot of college students here, and entry level wages are notoriously low. Austin has a lower cost of living than a lot of other large cities, especially if you are coming from someplace like LA or NYC, but it is still the most expensive place to live in Texas.
