Advice on where to live near Atlanta?

Need Your ADVICE??Should I relocate to Miami?? I live in Atlanta and dont know If I should Move?

  • I currently Live in Atlanta and work from home. I have been in Atlanta for over 6 years and it is a great city. I have truly enjoyed my time here, but have gotten bored. I have a few friends In South Beach/ Miami Beach, Florida and they have been trying to get me to move there for over a year. I really cant live anywhere too cold as I get nose bleeds, and prefer the a city where bars dont close at 2am(I bartend pt=less money) and cant seem to decide. You would think If i have had success here in Atlanta, I should just stay right here, but I have gotten bored of the same old, same old. Part of me wants to move to miami, the other parts says stay in Atlanta as it has been good to me. Im 30 years old and have no children so a move would be easy, and I can afford it. I have always wanted to live on the beach and it would make sense However, I cant say anything Bad about Atlanta as its been great to me as well and prefer the southeast over any other part of the country??

Miami is a beautful and inchanting place to live. I lived there for 8 mths. I will live the days of my retirement to death on SoBe. There is so much to do there are so many new things to taste, feel, and become apart of. If you are an active person who loves new everthing. GO GO GO GO. As far is being crowed NOT TRUE. Maimi is huge. It is spread apart. Every section has its own life and beat. The beach pluses with people and ideas(it closes at 5am). The grove moves to the rythm of a Duke Ellington song, its the "local" hang out where people who grew up in Miami ecaspe the camrea and binocular crowd. The art deco section overflows with invoation and fresh thoughts. It all comes to a mellow resting place in downtown where evething out of place has a place. I did not even mention Coral Gables or Key Biscayne to increcbile place of great beauty. It would truely be the oppertunity of a life time. To not take it would be stupidity at its most brillant.

South Beach is nice to live in but expensive. If you can afford, go for it. Do some research on where you would live. I visited south beach and would not mind living there at all. Keep in mind that it is a hotspot for hurricanes so you won't get house insurance to cheap. You can walk or take public transportation which is quite inexpensive. If the idea excites you, then go for it! Good luck

Is there a way that you could stay with friends for a month and try it out? Visiting someplace is always different than living there. I live in Tampa Florida and our bars close here at 2am, I'm not sure about Miami, but how many people are out past that time anyway? Now, as for living on the beach, you better have a TON of money. Living on the beach or around any body of water is really expensive and also increases your chance of damage due to hurricanes. Go to Realtor.com and look at the houses (if you plan on buying one) or go to apartments.com and look at the apartments available for rent and see if you can really afford it.

I currently live in the Atlanta area and although I do enjoy the weather, the reason why I would not recommend someone to live in Miami is because of Hurricanes that pass through the South Florida region and in Miami. Although Miami is a World Class City and a city well known all over the world, if a hurricane strikes, you need to get out the way because if you decide to stay, you are taking a big gamble and in my opinion, it is not worth living in Miami if you have to deal with hurricanes. I have listed below some information from city-data.com about Atlanta and Miami and I hope the information can assist you out and good luck with the decision you make.

Hey, i say stay in Atlanta!!!! I moved to Atlanta from Miami after eight years in Miami and have no regrets!!! and dont miss it either, the two cities are very very different. Miami was nice when i was in college, i also bartended, made great money and hang out alot everything closes late so the fun life is there. BUT it is very expensive at age thrity and on you may be thinking about putting away more money, Miami will not let you do that, home ownership are very very expensive, and buying property is expensive considering the small square feet that you will get, Spanish is a MUSTt, i already had a very hard time at work especially in jobs that require interaction with the public and in the privatesector gettting hired if not boilingual is impossible. OK, so there is the beach but like every other city after the first three months on the beach it gets old. Stay in Atlanta, I have found more success at work here coz i only speak English, property ownership, growth in all areas since Atlanta is such a great city to grow with. Also i can take great roads trips to DC, Midwest and the like, i had to get on plane from Miami to get anywhere, it was so out there and driving out of Florida alone took eight plus hours thats no fun. Stay.
