Where is Buckhead, Atlanta?
-
I've asked multiple questions about Atlanta and what regions in it I would like, etc and the area of Buckhead kept coming up as a great area, even on a website devoted to atlanta-THEN, I check on mapquest to see just where it is, and it's a whole separate town about an hour away-to me one hour a big amount of time!-So how come Buckhead keeps coming up when I mention atlanta if it is not even IN atlanta-Are there 2 buckheads?-one that's in atlanta and one that's a city an hour away-does that mean that the other cities that the yahoo people mentioned are potentially that far away too?

Answer:
Buckhead is a neighborhood in the city of Atlanta. Addresses are in Atlanta, GA (which is why when you search 'Buckhead, GA' you get that random country town that's far away -- no one was recommending that, and most people in the city of Atlanta don't even know that it exists). If you want to see where Buckhead is, search the zip code 30305 on google maps. It's a pretty big area with 3-4 different zip codes, but that'll show you the general area. As for other cities, it all depends on who recommended them... people who live in the suburbs, what they call "outside the perimeter" tend to be pretty liberal about what exactly it means to live "in Atlanta" ... while people who live in the perimeter (inside the I-285 loop), are more discriminating.

You are right. There are two smaller towns in Georgia called Buckhead. Don’t worry about them. Buckhead is a neighborhood of Atlanta. It’s not a separate city. Just as SoHo isn’t a completely separate city but a part of NYC.

Maybe I can help ........ Buckhead is simply a Zone considered by most the "crown jewel" of Atlanta. It's commonly refered to as our financial district. If you look at mapquest find "Peachtree Street". Start Downtown near the Georgia Dome and World of Coca Cola sites. On the map follow P'tree street due north, you will see "Mid Town" then Buckhead. It's roughly a stretch of 10 miles between the two. For the most part buckhead is the city of Atlanta.

Because Buckhead is a part of the city of Atlanta. It is just an area of Atlanta, not a town/city. It is the north part of Atlanta. http://www.buckhead.net/ http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Buckhead_(Atlanta)

Buckhead is a city in the metro Atlanta area, but it is not part of Atlanta, and no there are not two cities in Georgia with the same name.
