How much should a college-educated legal secretary in Buckhead (Atlanta) make?

Which section of Atlanta should I stay at? Buckhead, Midtown, or Downtown?

  • I am going to be visiting Atlanta for 4 days this summer and I have 3 options for hotel regions... either Buckhead, Midtown, or Downtown... Buckhead is surprisingly cheaper, then Midtown, then Downtown. Which area is the most cost effective for a mid-twenties crowd that wants to experience the nightlife/activities of Atlanta? Also, how functional is the MARTA?

  • Answer:

Buckhead is upscale, Midtown is trendy, Downtown is mostly business oriented but there are a few good music venues downtown and that is where the sports arena and baseball stadium are located. As far as accomodations and restaurant choices all three have good options. Buckhead would be my 1st choice then Midtown second. The club scene is so spread out it's hard to say. You'll need to drive or cab to go out late. MARTA stops running at midnight.

Other answers

I would suggest Buckhead. You'll be closer to more regular/real life nightlife activity. Recommend going to 'Smith's Olde Bar' for good live music. Most of the things you'll want to go downtown for are going to be special and/or daytime events. Marta is very functional and has their own real police.
