How is Atlanta's weather in January? is it good for tourism?

  • Im planing to go by car from Florida to Atlanta in early january... any recommendations?

  • Answer:

If you want to explore Atlanta's indoor attractions, i.e. The High Museum, The Fox Theater, The World of Coke, the Carter Center.... January is as good a time to visit as any. If you planned to go hiking or tubing down the Chattahoochee -- postpone your trip for several months. I'm from NY and while one would think I'd be desensitized to the cold -- I bundle up in the winter here. It does get cold and dreary.

Bring a coat. I would recommend the Georgia Aquarium, Atlantic Station, and the Coca-Cola Factory if you have kids.... There are plenty of clubs here too.

Well, it's the coldest of the year. You're not going to be without a coat. But that's relative; for me being originally from WI, January was still heavenly; SO, to find out the actual temperatures to see what's acceptable for you for tourism, go to city-data.com & look up Atlanta. It'll give you charts further down on the page with temperatures, precipitation, cloudy days, etc.

Coldest month of the year. It will be cold and wet. But we rarely see snow.
