Should we move to Atlanta?
-
Well, We've lived in the same place for 7 years. I think it's time to move and we went to Atlanta, Ga to see snow, I had a lot of fun. My mom doesnt want to move because she doesn't want to leave her mom , but I found a house with a finished basement. The jobs I found for them pay almost twice as much there as they do here. Should we move? Why or why not?

I think this is a decision the adults get to make. Don't get me wrong, Atlanta is a great place to live and work. But you need to be educated, motivated and competitive to make it in a large city. There are hundred of thousands of houses with finished basements in Atlanta. Homes without a basement are harder to find than ones with. There is also a 10% unemployment rate so any jobs that are open are only going to go to the best candidates. The job market is extremely competitive here. But you also have to compare your cost of living to that in Atlanta. A nice house in a nice neighborhood in suburban Atlanta will cost you $200,000. In the city that same house will cost you $350,000. Compare that to your town? The average commute to your job in Atlanta is 45 minutes. That means that almost half the people in the area are in their car for two hours every day. What about the price of insurance, health care and taxes. If you like the area and someone has offered you a job, weigh the pros and cons and decide, but don't just load up the truck and move to Beverly, just because you came here once to see the snow, which by the way happens maybe once a year.

Jobs may pay twice as much, but you're mom would have to be able to get a job here right now & that might be a challenge since the unemployment rate in Georgia is higher than the national average. I would't advise moving unless she has a job lined up before she gets here. I'm not sure about your coming to Atlanta to see snow, we don't usually get more than 1 day with any accumulation of snow. Next maybe your mom doesn't want to leave her mom because maybe she has medical issues or something else or maybe your grandmother doesn't want to move here either. I think the choice on moving would ultimately be up to your mother and not you unless you are 18. If you are 18 then do your own thing & move if you want to move, just make sure you can get a job & have several thousand dollars to move here for living expenses.
