What's Smyrna, GA like?

How much do utilities cost in Marietta and Smyrna, GA compared to the San Francisco Bay Area?

  • We're a family of 2 who uses electricity/gas and water as needed. In the SF Bay Area, our bill is usually $50 a month for electric/gas and $50 a month for water. What would be the equivalent costs if we were to move to Marietta or Smyrna, GA? Thanks for your help!

  • Answer:

That depends entirely on the size of the house/apartment you live in. My house is a medium sized 3 bedroom 2 story (very typical of this area) My gas bill is around $120 in the winter (for heat) but only around $40 in the summer when all it's doing is heating the hot water. Electric stays fairly constant at $80. But in the hot summer months it can get up to $150 or more. Water is around $50. The utility companies can give you yearly averages if you give them an address to look up.

I live in Atlanta. There are two of us and our gas and electricity runs about $200 a month, water and sewage about $25 a month. Cobb County which includes Marietta and Smyrna bills will be just about the same.

depends on how big your living space will be. I have 1100 sq ft 2-bdrm condo with vaulted ceiling. my elec averages $60 in non-summer months (water/trash is included in assoc fees). summer months I spend closer to $90. one bill that is high is my cable & broadband bill; it averages $120.

If I were you which I am not, unless you Love living under a bridge, I would stay in San Fran. Remember that the under pass at delk and 75 and any bridge over by windy hill and the 285 transition has already got some many people living there that there is a waiting list

I live in Sandy Springs, which used to be part of Atlanta, but we are a family of 3 and our water bill has been rising lately, to almost 50. the electricity: it usually never goes above 120
