Where should we move - Philly or NY?

I'm a native NYCer living in Philly. I HATE Philly compared to NY. I may move to ATL. Will i like ATL?

  • I'm very biased to NYC and I've been dying to move back there for a while. However, i have a pretty good opportunity in ATL if I choose to take it. But I'm worried that I might possibly hate ATL just as much as I hate Philly. Philly is a stagnant city with nothing that impresses me. I love that NYC is fast paced, constantly changing, and tons of diversity around. I really miss it. Would I like ATL?

  • Answer:

No, you probably won't like Atlanta. You have to drive everywhere, public transportation blows, the city is full of strip malls with chain stores and chain restaurants. If there is anything interesting looking or historical, they will level it and build a bunch of cookie-cutter apartment complexes that are sterile and have all the personality of a roadside hotel. There aren't many places where you can walk around and most of the city of Atlanta is actually suburban.

Come down and visit and figure it out for yourself. It's hard to say whether you'd like it or not. Some people love Atlanta, others don't.

Yes I would stay in the Atlanta area because it is busy like New York but if you are trying to move away from the city I recommend Marietta it will have a variety of people

you just have to visit, and it depends on what part of the city you move to, It's full of diversity though. If you want fast paced you should stay in the Downtown Area

In my opinion, the place you live depends on you and what you make of it. I've moved around a lot in my life, and each place I've had to really make the best of it. Some people really like Atlanta, others hate it. I don't think it is as fasted pace as NYC--but this is the South, after all, so you shouldn't expect that! I would suggest you take the time to come down for a visit--there is a lot to do here but is by no means NYC. I personally enjoy living here and live the fact that I can go to Downtown to experience everything they have there, yet, I'm a short drive from the North Georgia Mountains full of beautiful Wineries and such.
