What to do for 4th of july?

What is it like at Stone Mountain, GA on the 4th of July?

  • My boyfriend and I are thinking of going to stone mountain for the 4th of July for the fireworks/laser show, and I was wondering what to expect as far as traffic, people, when to get there, what to bring? Is it hectic and crowded or is it organized? Also if there are any other cool 4th of July things in Atlanta that would be cool to know too. Thanks!

    It's great! The only problem was parking because I got there later than I want. There are good hike trails, the train, the water-park, etc. Other fire works events are Centennial Park. Six Flags (yeah they filed Bankruptcy, but it not effecting operation right now) If you willing to drive an hour outside of Atlanta Caovernightardens is another nice spot to do an overnite trip. They have a man made beach, bike trails, beautiful gardens, golf etc.

It is very crowded, but the crowd is subdued. I would suggest getting there reasonably early just to get a decent spot, because it WILL be crowded.
