  • I am a young professional who moved down to Atlanta a few months ago looking for some fun inexpensive things to do. I am kind of over the club scene so I am looking for other things besides bars and clubs.

    In addition to finding out about new places in Atl., you may also want to check out this site called meetup.com that a friend pointed me to recently. This is a social networking site where people network and meet about once a month for different interest areas. There are an endless number of meetup groups in Atlanta that get together from young professional, poetry, theater, service/volunteer, dining, fitness, shopping, spades, newcomers..... This may be an interesting way for you to connect with people and resources in the area. Good luck with your search!

Go to Martinis and IMAX on Fridays at Fernbank Museum...the Museum also has a Observatory with a multi-million dollar telescope...this part is free - and fun. I think this idea is the best place to go as a couple. First daters often go here, too. Fulton County residents get into the High Museum for free on the first Saturdays of every month. You need to bring something to prove you are from Fulton county (tear your plate off your car ;) ). The Candler Park/Clair Lake area has a drum circle at the Land Trust every first and third Saturday of the month...this is supposed to be awesome. Go hike Stone Mountain - I think it costs $7 to gain access to the park. Go to Sweetwater Preserve (not the brewery) and go hiking. Google it.

Take your bike for a ride on the silver comet trail starting in Cobb county just up S. Cobb dr from I-285. Also, the Dekalb county Arabia Mountain bike trail is very nice near Stone Crest Mall. Go to the zoo and see the gorillas, and stop in to see the Cyclorama next door. Go roller blading in Piedmont park. People watch with the freaks in little 5 pts. Lot's of cheap things to do.
