Where to go in Europe?

Where would you go and what should I do?? Europe or New Zealand? I'm torn?

  • Hey guys, so 3 of my friends have plans to go to Europe at the end of the year and I was invited, they are going to Paris, London, Rome & Venice. I like Europe, Ive never been there and it sounds like a life time opportunity however Ive always wanted to go to New Zealand, Fiji & Australia my whole life, should I pay the money to go with them, its cheaper cause its between 4 of us but at the same time should I spend my money on Europe and wait 3 to 5 odd years to save up to go to Australia & New Zealand or should I just go with another friend and spend my money on NZ this year and not go to Europe?? Do friends actually make trip "funner"? What should I do?

  • Answer:

I have backpacked Europe twice, New Zealand twice, and Australia once. Never been to Fiji. My advice, without a doubt, is to go to New Zealand. It is that great (not that Europe isn't). Focus on the South Island, and bring an adventurous spirit. Good luck!

Buy an around the world plane ticket and start in Europe with your friends and when you're ready to part ways... then go to New Zealand. Different airlines will have different prices, but basically you get a set number of journeys and miles and you can use the ticket with the airline for whatever destinations you want.

I would go to Europe just because it would be cheaper and because friends are going. (Just make sure they're you friends. You don't want to be left out. True friends make the trip fun and memorable) It's also safer to travel with someone then by yourself. But if New Zealand and Australia are what you want to do, then go for it! Hope this helps and I hope whichever trip you pick you have fun!

You could always go to the border/government website for Australia/New Zealand and get a visa for a "working holiday". You just have to be on the list of nationalities, have another money in your bank account that proves that you can live without going on state benefits for the first little awhile (there's a different amount for each country on the program), and be 18-30 (35 for New Zealand). You can work for up to a year in order to fund your trip doing casual jobs. You just have to pay for the visa and the airfare and then your living expenses while in the country you choose (but that's covered with the money that you needed in your bank account and working). There is also programs, like Swap, that will make sure you don't make a mistake on your working holiday visa application, and gives you extra help while in the country.
