How Much Money Should I Earn For This Trip? (Salt Lake City, UT to Tadworth, Great Britain)?

• I'm 15, and I want to go to Tadworth (just south of London) for about 10 days to visit a friend. I was wondering about how much money I should start earning for that trip. I know I need money for airfare, boarding, food, and maybe souvenirs. Suggest anything else? And about how much should I expect to pay for - Airline tickets? (not looking for 1st class, etc. Just transportation from the Salt Lake City Airport to the London Heathrow Airport, and then the ride back) - A place to stay? Any suggestions of where to stay? (I may be staying with a family, but I would want to pay them. What would be a good amount to pay them per day?) - Food? - Souvenirs?   The biggest portion of your budget is going to be airfare. Costs can range from around $1,000 to around $1,500. The time of year you want to go is the main determinant - fares are much higher in the summer, and are more reasonable in the winter. Airfare is also less expensive if you travel on Tuesday or Wednesday. I suggest signing up to receive email notifications of special fares from all the major airlines that service that route. Would your parents allow you to fly from SLC - Denver, then from Denver to LHR (Heathrow)? If you get a Southwest flight to Denver, then a major airline from Denver - London, you may get a better fare. Take a look at Priceline for fare information. You will not be able to book a hotel room and stay there by yourself under the age of 18. To be safe, I'd have at least $100 per day available for spending. England is very expensive, and the dollar is not strong right now.
