  With the school aged kids now being back in class, just about anywhere you go is much less crowded and there are typically discounts to be had if you look for them. One of our favorite things at this time of year is to go on a cruise. Every aspect of the vacation desires is typically accounted for from your 7 year old to grandma and grandpa too. October still offers some great weather in areas like those frequented on the Baltic Cruises or you can head down to the river cruises of Germany, we love the Rhine River Cruises, or if time and funds allow there is the Med. Stateside there are the National Parks like Yellowstone, Zion and the grand daddy of them all, the Grand Canyon. We did these all last fall in our motorhome and had an absolute ball. We actually did 11 parks in 3 months for a homeschooling learning adventure. We have a special needs child that learns best in hands on situations so we tend to travel a lot. Besides, living in Alaska one needs to get away and thaw out from time to time. To sum up this answer, October is a favorite month for us to travel. The crowds are smaller, prices are more affordable, the traffic is lighter and people are just more relaxed making it easy and exciting to find new ideas for places to visit from everyone we meet along the way.
