What can you do besides getting another passport about lost passports?

Lost my passport and fly in 3 days..?

• Iv lost my passport, turned my house upside down and no luck. I know it says on the website that it takes a week for lost passports but ive heard and know of people who have gone to a passport office and managed to get one on the day, i have an appointment so i was wondering: Is this true? Can you get one on the day? And are there any tips for getting them, such as things i should say to convince them etc.. Thanks

  The reason why it usually takes so long is because you have to post the forms, then they go into a queue. When they are eventually looked at, they have to go through all of the checking process. It is true that you can get a passport on the same day and you don't have to lie or over-exaggerate your situation in order to make sure you get it on the day because there is only 1 reason you would ever go and visit - if you are desparate and need it quick. I had to do it once because just like you, I was so sure that my passport was in my room and didn't check until the week before I went on holiday... and couldn't find it. I turned my whole house upside down too! My nearest one is in Victoria in London. I had to pay more money to visit than I would have done to have it by post but you are guaranteed to have it the same day. Obviously as long as you are legally supposed to be in the country etc. I had to wait around for a very long time though. They basically take your documents and do all of the checks that they need to do, plus print the passport, except they do it while you wait and this process usually takes a few hours at least and I'm pretty sure you have to stay there while they do it. So yeah, if you have an appointment to go get the passport directly from the office, then you will definitely take a new passport home with you :). Enjoy your holiday!
