Are Tourism Industry geared up for matching skill and educated car/bus driver ?

  • 1. We all know India will poised for world class Roads with in 10 years 2. Tourism Industry will be benefitted more on this developments 3, We will be in need of mostly educated and skill full drivers in future rather illiterate people driving in expressway resulting in more no of road accidents not knowing the latest navigation signals in Roadways 4. We completely neglecting healthy young people passing in just 3 rd divition (with 40to 50% mark in class 12 exam and discouraging and scolding them for not getting engineering and Medical admission .Even ordinery BA /Bsc student find it difficult in getting good job 5. We need every didtrict in India a top class motor driving school at least one such school in every town .There are 2000 towns and 200 cities in India .Opening of this school will open nearly 2 lakh direct employments and nearly 10 lakh indirect well educated shillfull motor drivers will come out to fill the gap of growing demand of such people in Transport/Tourist bus ,/car /luxary bus segments because only skill full drivers can read world class navigations in modern roads in futures

Brother Asim: I agree with your 1st and 2nd point. Coming to your 3rd point, I don't think illiterate drivers are eligible for driving license. They should be able to read at least the road signs/warnings, yes they need to be assessed periodically with health and navigational signs. Young people cannot be put on road just because they are highly literate and went through highly technical driving schools. They lack experience and that will eventually end up in high rate accidents. Rookie drivers should be posted in rural areas to gain experience, moreover Govt can't employ everyone with full benefits. Later this will encourage massive union/strike problems and hike in ticket price to maintain such expensive operation. Similar situation happened in TN and they ended up splitting Pallavan transport into 2 (Ambedkar transportation was result of that separationn). Young rookie drivers where brought into action, ignoring drivers/conductors request for salary hike. There was total confusion for a while because there was no enough training about bus routes, stages and I helped most of them during my travel in familiar route. Moreover accident rates where extremely high! You are right, it is hard to survive without technical skills nowadays, BA and B.Sc will never get you anywhere. May be clerical or sales rep work in local companies. Govt creating new driving schools is going to take a toll on the budget, which might not even come to their vision. Instead Govt approved driving schools should be asked to regulate such standards and make defensive driving course a mandatory. Drivers that cause accidents should be mandated to attend such trainings at their own expense. Private bus corporations are very much competing with Govt in rural and local transportation. This will definitely help economy and rush hour traffic but will be very bad for our environment. R&D for Alternate fuel must be one of their primary focus too. Companies like Ashok Leyland, Tata have their own testing ground, which should be available for training skilled drivers. They already have it, just giving access to drivers in training shouldn't be a big deal. Yes, skilled drivers should be in place for all transportation (including truck/lorry). Rural people should be educated to graze their livestock in fields and not in road. Sometimes accidents are not drivers fault. Some tollways have been constructed and maintained by pvt sector and they are allowed to collect toll for next 2 decades to make up the construction cost. That's one good way of keeping govt money in treasury. Definitely it can be done! But who is going to take the cost, eventually it will fall on common public.
