Where can I go for cheap travel abroad in august?

Any advice on where to go for a cheap, safe travel..?

• Hey, I'm an 18 year old girl and before I go to college, I would like to travel. Are there any country's that I can visit fairly cheap? I'm planning to stay somewhere for about a month. My friend suggested India because it was cheap and he had a great time there, but I worried it might be too overwhelming/ not that safe for me to go alone. Any thoughts or any other suggestions else to go? I know any country where you're alone is not that safe..but I don't know. Well, I plan to backpack if that helps any. Thanks!

  Start by looking into Hosteling International (HI). Not only will it be a safe place to sleep, it will be a better social experience and you may meet fellow travelers to hang with before you move onto the next place. These hostels have kitchens where you can prepare your own food (a big money saver), plus showers! http://www.hihostels.com/web/hostels.en.htm Stick to HI for hostels. If other hostels catch your eye, do A LOT of research on the hostel's reputation before planning to stay there. I would suggest Europe because it is generally culturally acceptable for women to be on their own and most people will be highly supportive of your adventure. It also has a lower incidence of hostility towards Americans, and it has a good transportation infrastructure to safely travel to many destinations.
