Turkish airlines operated by united baggage fees?

  • im flying with turkish airlines. to lebanon.. my flight is from LA to chicago on turkish airlines ( operated by United ) and from chicago to istanbul with turkish airlines and then to beirut with turkish airlines. im going from LA to Beirut but i have to transit through chicago with united airlines codesharing with Turkish. so whats the situation? will baggage fees apply?

  • Answer:

Yes, indeed they are. The United Air will charge you an arm and a leg in LA, depending on the wind wherever blows. Then you hope to get your baggage back in Istanbul, that is of course if you are lucky..On your way back to LA, you won't pay for your baggage but you'd want to consider yourself VERY lucky if you and your luggage arrive on the same plane. Otherwise, you'll get your luggage to your address the next day or the after..Mine did not arrive in one piece, btw. The Star airlines group have the poorest airline services...I have made quite a few round trips over the years with different airlines including them. I realize, I sound like a mean person but trust me I'm telling you the truth. I'm talking about the airline customer service before and after departure. That's where the airline company shines. Sure, probably you'll get the best meal and sleep set possible on your flight from Chicago to Istanbul. Big deal. Who cares if you pay for your meal. Also, Chicago's O'hare airport one of the busiest airports, I don't wish you to encounter in any incident in that airport and I hope you don't but if you do, don't lose your calm and manners...The airport staff doesn't care much about your situation. You are on your own. Also, do not try to call United Air and sort out the questions about the baggage fee before hand. I have had the unforgetable experience, it was not much of a help. When you think you call United Air and hope to speak somebody in the States, you are wrong. I hope you are multilingual otherwise you'll pull your hair and give up. Best thing accept the fee whatever they charge you at the airport. Smile and nod your head and pray that you and your luggage will arrive on the same plane safe and sound, if it is not too late to cancel.. If you have time to cancel or change your ticket, change it to Delta affiliated with KLM and Northwest Airlines. So far they provide the most professional service.
