If I miss my train at gatwick airport because of a flight delay, can i catch a later train on the same ticket?
-
on the 21st of august I will be flying into Gatwick, scheduled to land at 9.30. At 11 I have a ticket booked to Newport (Ticket type - standard leisure advance - D). I connect at Reading. If my flight arrival is delayed and I miss the train, but keep my airline boarding pass stubb as proof. Would they let me use a later train?

Answer:
Not with an advance ticket. The train company will say it was not their fault, and it isn't. It is hard enough using it on the wrong train even if you miss it because another train was delayed. If you miss it, you really need to check before getting on the train, you may well end up with a penalty fare (ie a fine) or at the least have to buy a full price ticket. You can't even get a cheap ticket on the train unless the booking office at the station is closed.
