Why can't all the countries have a common celebration of the New Year by referring to GMT 00:00:00 time?
-
As I watched on TV various celebrations in different countries to welcome the new year, it came to me that why can't all the countries use a common time (GMT) as it strikes 00:00:00, to welcome the new year. It is kinda funny that some countries are already halfway during the day under the new year while others are still awaiting it.

Answer:
Time is not constant from your area to another country. They are at a different point of time due to the rotation of the Earths axis. Although this is a good question the only way it work is if the earth stopped rotating and we floated into space.
