"Where is the best place in Central California to go camping?

That would be around lakes? Anyone been camping lately? We are thinking of doing this but not sure where we would have the most fun..... Important factor,, our two children ages 8 and 6..... Ideas please........

I don't know exactly where this is in relation to where you are but there is a place called Camp Pi Pi. It is about 4000' up in Amador county off of highway 88. This may be too far from where you live but there is a small river that runs through there along with large open fields of wild flowers and hiking trails that the kids would enjoy. Have fun
