Holiday Destinations for End of September, start of October?
-
My husband and I have a week booked off work end of September/begining of October. We both love good food and good wine, along with water sports like snorkelling and scuba diving. So wherever we go it must be on the coast. We have a budget of around £500 EACH for the week and we'd prefer self catering. We're concious of the fact that places in the EU might not be that warm that time of year and we'd really like some heat! Any suggestions?

Answer:
Well check out the island of Malta in the Mediterranean. That time of year is still quite hot over here! Good food and good wine is a definite in Malta- with a speciality of a mix of italian and our own delicacies and the Maltese wine is excellent! Water sports activities are plenty, the island being surrounded by clear blue Mediterranean sea! Plus, it is not an expensive destination http://divers.proline.lv/pic/malta.jpg http://www.firefightermaltesecross.com/i... http://photoblogonline.com/images/fullsi... http://media.thomson.co.uk/asset/lpp/v00... Plus, you can go by ferry with your rented car to its smaller island called Gozo- its only a 20 minute or less ride. I would also recommend Cyprus, particularly the east side (Ayia Napa, Protaras) as I've found the other side (Paphos) gets a chillier breeze. The island is one of the furthest points south in Europe and the weather is still very reliable at that time of the year. We have been lots of times in September and October. In the evening if you're unlucky you might need a cardigan but the weather in the daytime will still be really hot.

how about Sharm El Sheik in Egypt? its one of the up and coming hot spots to holiday, with plenty of things to see and do, and you say you like water sports well here is one of the best places to dive in the world with the coral reefs and the red sea, and it will still be really hot in september too. im going in August and it cost £600 for 4* hotel all inclusive so £500 will definatly be enough in sept self catering.

Cyprus or any of the Greek Islands are lovely and hot that time of year. They also have water sports. You might find yourself spending more time on land as the Islands are so beautiful!
