Transit visa at Spanish airport (Barajas, Madrid)?

Hi, i am going to USA and my plane stops in Madrid for 3 hours do i need a transit visa?

  • i am going to the US and i will transit in Barjas airport, Madrid for 3 hours. one of my friends that i haven't seen for almost 2 years will be there.i don't have time to apply for the Schengen visa. can i get a transit visa at the airport ? just to get out of the terminal? Thanks for the help,

    Depending on your nationality, a transit visa will probably not get you through customs; you stay air- side. Three hours is not enough time, anyway, to leave the Airport.

It will all depend on what your Nationality is. If you are Eurpoean, then you won't need a transit visa. Three hours is not a long time to leave airside. You probably can get a transit visa at the airport, but you should make sure that you have the correct documents.

Which country's passport are you holding? You may need a transit visa to come out. But for some countries they do not give transit visas very easily. What might help would be if your passport shows you had been through Europe before and the fact that you have a US visa.
