We are going to italy. Can we change the name on one of the tickets?

We have booked 3 tickets, two allocated to my friend and I. The third ticket is down as 'Mr spare ticket', which was to be used to give us a bit more room, as my friend is quite large. However, a second friend now wants to go with us, but we have been told we cant change the name on the spare ticket!? We would have to cancel it and she would need to re-book it in her name? Does this sound right?

You cant change names on tickets. You have to cancel it and the rebook it in the right name.
