  • Answer:

The recommendations depend on where you live, where you are going, and what vaccines you had before. Since you didn't say where you are going, see www.cdc.gov/travel and look up your destination to see what is recommended. In the US, the following vaccines are often recommended for travel: Hepatitis A, 2 doses at least 6 months apart. If you got one dose, you can get the second one now (if you can get an appointment). This vaccine can be given up to the day of travel in most healthy people. The 2-dose series is good for life. Typhoid fever- oral, good for 5 years. Injected, good for 2 years. Yellow fever (only for certain areas) good for 10 years. Hepatitis B, series of 3 shots, good for life. Hopefully you have already had 2 MMRs and your other routine vaccinations. Some people should have other vaccines like rabies or Japanese encephalitis. It is probably too late to get an appointment with a real travel clinic to get advice on this though. Next time make an appointment with a travel medicine clinic 6-8 weeks before your trip. You may also need a prescription for medicine to prevent malaria.

Most likely you're set. Any vaccines wouldn't make a difference with so little time anyway. It takes about two weeks for the full response of a vaccine to take affect.

It depends when you got each shot and where you are going. If it's Hep A, and you already have the 2nd booster shot, you're good for 20 years. Tetanus you're good for 10 years, I think. Typhoid fever is good for 3 years. Most likely you are ok, but it really depends where you are travelling to.
