Would anyone like to volunteer in Kenya?

Affordable & constructive volunteer abroad programs?

• I'm contemplating a gap year after high school, and I want to plan out what to do. Many of the interesting ones end up costing thousands, which is ridiculous because so many of the agencies are for-profit. I was wondering if anyone can recommend a good volunteer program, that isn't provided by a sketchy agency. It has to be affordable, and I'm not sure about the whole teaching English thing, it may be easy on my part but do impoverished Thais really need English before so many other things, like healthcare? Countries that seem interesting to me are: Thailand, Cambodia, India, Nepal, Jordan, Israel-Palestine peace initiatives, South Africa, Kenya, Seychelles and there are so many more.... I also would really like any links to volunteer programs run by any NGOs such as unicef or MSF

  In Israel they have something called a kibutz. A kibutz is where a group of people (socialists) work together to help each other. There you could teach English, work in the fields, or do many other things and in return they offer you housing, food, Hebrew teaching, and much more. There are many kibutzim (plural) that are designed for people like you who want to take the year off. In Israel you can learn about a different culture, see what the media is not showing, and have a fun time.
