Have you ever moved to another country?

What was it like the first time you moved out of your home country?

• For a visa, school program, etc... Were you stressed, nervous, anxious, or were you super excited? Did you leave the country for the first time with family, or were you on your own? Did you cry? Did the country you moved to speak your native language?

• Answer:

  I moved to the U.S. from Norway when I was 18 as an exchange student. It was kind of scary but also super exciting at the same time. I had to live with a host family, which didn't work out too well but I also had a lot of fun. I almost cried when i left my mom at the airport, but I was used to being on my own because i had already lived by myself for a year. In norway we speak norwegian, but I had been learning english since i was 10 so the transition wasn't too hard. I kept a GPA of 4.0 throughout the year. After that I also moved to Canada which was frustrating and great. I love Canada, but the more I live away from my country, the more I notice all those little annoying things that are different from home. Such as the low housing standard, and how they always use those flimsy plastic bags in the store or how I can't for the life of me find kefir in the stores or proper flour to bake real bread(american bread will never be real bread to me because they are so soft. You can just push them flat, which is so weird) or all the crap and corn and soy products in EVERYTHING. I don't need milk to last for a month. I'd rather have a milk without additives.
