Why are my hands always so warm?

Why do my hands feel warm when the water is freezing cold?

• Very recently I've been washing my hands with real cold water, prior to that my hands were already cold. Once I start washing my hands, my hands feel warm! but when I wash my elbows or any other part of the body, it feels freezing cold! Can you tell me why I feel that way?
