Answer:
It is FAR LESS than 1 out of every 100 planes as the 1st person said. In fact, Delta airlines has operated 16.5 million flights in the past 20 years and has only had 1 deadly crash. There are more than 87,000 flights per day in the US alone, and crashes are very rare, you just hear a lot about it when it happens! You don't hear about the 6,000,000 car crashes in the US per year, resulting in over 42,000 deaths! That is the equivalent of 350 Boeing 737's (like Southwest's planes), or almost ONE PLANE PER DAY, crashing each year and with a 100% fatality rate. Check out this website http://www.planecrashinfo.com/rates.htm;it can give you all the stats on individual airlines crashes, and a few other tidbits. Its pretty interesting. You don't need to be scared, it is much safer than even walking! I fly about 25 flights every week for the past 6 years, and have had nothing happen that would have put me at risk. Not to worry, with security since 9-11 a situation like flight 93 would be extremely rare at this point in time. I personally don't watch movies that are about crashes. They are made for entertainment purposes and over dramatize the situation which ends up causing illogical fears. I'd be willing to bet the fear of flying would be a lot less rampant if Hollywood would stop making movies about real and fake crashes. You will be just fine, just relax and enjoy the experience and look at is as an adventure!

It's more likely to die in a car accident than in a plane crash So you're putting yourself in more danger by getting into a car every day than you are by getting on an airplane. Trufact. Chill out

Planes have a much better safety record than cars. It's much more likely for you to be in a car crash.
