How can I get over my fear of flying?

How can I get rid of my fear of flying?

  • I'm a frequent flyer and I started being afraid of flying in the last 10 years, what can I do to minimize my fear. I have to fly almost once in every 6months....The whole breathing and try to watch a movie or read a book does not work for me....

  • Answer:

I used to have the same thing, but I accidentally found a cure. (For me, still try it...) I bought a joystick for my computer, one of those flight sim joysticks, and then bought Microsoft Flight Simulator 2002. I was amazed at how hard it is to wreck a plane. I got hooked to the sim for a while, and now I look forward to flying, and am even going to take (real life) flight lessons as soon as possible.

1) Get a window seat so you can close the window next to you (trust me it helps when u can't see clouds coming). 2)Just try and get distracted or take some sleeping pills before the flight so that you fall asleep before the plane even takes off. Trust me I'm terrified of flying and that stuff helps me with my fear.

What is it that you are truly afraid of? I can understand from past happenings around the world why you might be afraid. One thing you might try if you are afraid something will happen to you, is dont leave any unfinished business waiting for you to get back. Make sure all of your loved ones know how much you love them, just in case. But other than that idk why you might be afraid after flying so much in your lifetime. Good luck!

just tough it out 1 time and then you will be fine after that.

My personal preferrence is to pray before take-off and landing. As a Christian I know that if the flight is unsuccessful I will still have a "good landing." My brother also prays but likes to ad a Xanax before boarding and keeps another handy in case he gets stuck on the runway for a long time. He takes a low dose and says it relaxes him enough to not be bothered by the experience. However, since you are a frequent flyer this might not be a great idea. Xanax can have a negative effect on your Liver and Kidneys if taken too regularly or for too long a period of time. ASK your Doctor.
