Will they catch you drinking underage in a hotel room if you're quiet?
-
This weekend, my friends and I are seeing Kings of Leon down in Memphis and we've got a hotel for the night. We're all 19; my friend's parents have reserved us a room in the hotel, and the hotel knows we'll be checking in under the name left at the desk- that part's all good. We wanna bring some booze and quietly drink after the show. We're not the party-type drinkers, who are going to have music blasting loud or be irritating any other guests...we'll just have open bottles in our room enjoying our evening after the show. We don't get irresponsible to the point where we're spilling and/or breaking ****...like I said- we just want to have some fun after we return from the concert. My question is- is there any real way a hotel is going to know if we're drinking if we're not being obnoxious or throwing a party? We can't really risk a run-in with the law...having a court date in Memphis when we're all from the Chicagoland area really wouldn't fly (and even if that could be worked out...just...no. Haha)....my question is, the only way it'd really be an issue is if someone could smell traces of alcohol outside our door. But even at that point, as long as we're not being loud, what would anyone passing by- hotel staff, guard, or not- care if there was alcohol in the room? Drinking in a hotel room is perfectly legal and they've got no reason to be knocking on the door if they smell alcohol- they shouldn't be suspecting we're underage. Anyone got anything to say, any advice, any reassurance here? We should be fine, right- couple responsible kids enjoying some drinks and not being rowdy and attention-drawing? Thanks!

Answer:
It does not work because they won't know but if you are drunk and are not able to walk balance anywhere in the hotel then hotel manager would call cops.

Just don't. Would it kill you to wait two years? Really, you don't know how loud you will get since you will be drunk so just don't do it
You're going to be louder than you'll think you are.. You'll probably get caught. They'll call your parents, and you're going to w be in a world of hurt.

The first will happen b/c the second won't.

You'll be fine, dude. Even if someone does complain the hotel will call up and let you know first, they won't just call the cops on you.

Most hotels require you to be 18 or over to book a room so your age doesn't matter. As long as you keep to yourself then hotels do not usually knock on doors and ask what you are doing. make sure you take the empty bottles and cans out of the room when you leave and you should be ok.
