How long does Airmail Take from UK to USA?

How long would it take for a Birthday Card and small gift to travel from the UK to USA via airmail? I need it to arrive for September 1st American time?
Answer:

My experience has been that letters take 5 to 10 days and packages take 7 to 14 days between W. Europe and the USA. If it's a package I would mail it on or about August 15th to be sure it would arrive by September 1st.

It usually takes 4 days for cards and small packages to arrive, however, you probably should allow 5 or 6 to be on the safe side.

Depends on what carrier you use. but mostly it takes 2-3 days...well for me anyway.
