How do you ship something first class international?

If I ship something over 13 oz can I still pick first class? Via Usps?

  • Im shipping something over 13oz but i was wondering if I could ship it first class? Will there be any extra charge, If so whats my other options?

  • Answer:

No. First Class Mail is limited to 13 ounces or less. Once you exceed 13 ounces, even by a fraction, you must use another class of mail. usually, Priority Mail as it is an "extension" of First Class Mail and averages 2-3 days, nationwide.

The 13 ounce restriction is ONLY for packages with postage stamps on them. You must take them to a post office and go to the window, where you will be questioned about the contents, for security reasons. You can't drop it in a blue collection box or the collection slot at the post office, or it will be sent back to you if you use a return address, or if no return address, you'll probably never see it again, and it won't be sent. If you print your own postage labels online, you can drop any package if it will fit in the receptacle. Otherwise, the type of service you choose is up to you, regardless of weight. A package up to 70 lbs. can be sent 1st class, Priority, Express or other special service, Parcel Post, and even Media Mail if it qualifies.

If it's over 13 oz, it goes priority mail which is just as fast.

Technically it would be "Parcel Post"
