Where can I check a British's passport?

UK Passport, First Passport application sent off on Saturday 1st Aug, check & send. Will i get it by 28th Aug?

I applied for my first UK passport on Saturday 1st August with the Post Offices check & send service. I need to get the passport by 28th August for when I go on holiday. The passport office recommend to allow 6 weeks for it to be sent through and not to book any travel until the passport is recieved. However, I booked the holiday a while a go and forgot about the passport until now. D'oh! Does anyone have any personal experience with this situation and how long did it take for it to come through to you or does anyone know how to hurry the application through somehow so I can get it in time? It's urgent as it's so i can get to a family wedding!!! Thanks!
Answer:

You could get it by the 28th, if you had a family member send something to vouch that it's important. Other than that, I wouldn't count on it for the 28th. Unless, in your favor the Passport office is not busy. Good Luck.
