How much luggage can one carry on a Korean train?

Should I bring 2 medium sized luggages (one check in and one carry on) or one large luggage for check in?

  • I will be going on a trip for 18 days and I have a lot to bring. I managed to stuff everything into one large luggage for check in but I'm worried that it may weigh more than 50 pounds. Luckily, I am going on an airline that doesn't charge for the first check in baggage so it won't cost me. But I was thinking, maybe it's best I take one medium sized luggage for check in and a smaller one for carry-on? Which should I do? Two medium sized luggages or one large one?

    Your carry on must be within the airlines limits, and so a medium bag maybe too large for carry on. I would recommend checking on what you can take as Carry on (limits on size & weight nearly always apply), and pack the rest in a bag that again is within the limits for checked luggage. Going over the 50lb limit is not a good idea. So, I would say one carry on and one medium to large bag, 18 days is a good while if you have no facilities to wash your clothes.

Stick with the large one, but If I were in your shoes, I'd still bring a medium-sized luggage for carry-on so that I've got some extra space just in case I decide buy some stuff to bring back home.

Oversize and overweight luggage (even if the airline doesn't charge you extra for it) is much more likely to be delayed than regular-size/weight luggage. Regular luggage is easier to handle - even two regular bags instead of one large & heavy bag. You should also pack one complete change of clothing in your carry-on, along with basic toiletroes.
