What are good camping conditions?

What clothes should be packed for winter tent camping?

  • A group of mine and my boyfriend’s friends are going tent camping up at Mount Laguna (San Diego, California) on new years weekend (December 30th to January 1st). Sadly enough, technology isn't as advanced as I’d like it to be so I can’t see the weather for those days. Historical averages say it rates high at 62° f and low at 33°f (not factoring wind and such). Anyone have recommendations for what clothes should be packed for both guys and girls (Details such as; long sleeve/short sleeve, thick/thin, knit/cotton, etc. would be nice)? Also, what kind of conditions should we expect for night time and how should we prepare for them? Thanks in advanced to those of you who answered!

  • Answer:

Well first of all, NO COTTON!!! Use synthetic materials instead of natural ones. I suggest you use this layer system. Start with something tight fitting and warm like Under Armor. Next, wear something with think insulation like a sweatshirt. Finally, finish off with something wind/rain resistant. That'll keep you nice and warm.
