Where is "place of issue" on UK passport?

Passport Place of Issuance/Issue Date?

  • I am traveling on December 23. I filed my application to renew my passport on Saturday, November 28th at Ela Area Public Library in Lake Zurich, Illinois. My travel agent needs to know the place of issuance of my passport and the expiration date. It is an adult passport, so it lasts for 10 years. Does this mean that the expiration date is 10 years from November 28, 2009? Also, what do I write for place of issuance?

  • Answer:

Tell your travel agency that you have applied for your passport but have not received it yet. That is common, they can add the passport details later. But if you guess and guess wrong, it will be much harder to correct the information. Only when you need to apply for visa you need your actual passport, and most travel agencies will warn you if that is the case.

The expiration date would be 10 years from when it is issued. Usually the Month and year is sufficient since most places require you to have a passport that is 6 MONTHS prior to it's expiration date. The place of issuance, you can call the Public Libary but most likely, it is being done in the city so I will presume it's probably going to be Chicago, IL or Springfield.
