Can you bring food on an airplane?

Can I bring my own food on an airplane?

  • Im leaving in a couple days for a week and I wanna bring my own snacks so I don't have to spend my money on food. On the way there Im taking Air Tran and then on my return its going to be American Airline. would I be allowed to bring my own snacks such as cookies or chips?

  • Answer:

I always bring extra things to nibble on the plane. Haven't had a problem as yet. But they ARE all pre- packaged.

You are not allowed to pack food and take it through security .... Depending on the duration of the flight you will get complimentary snacks and beverages (for short distances) and complimentary meals and beverages (for long distances)

Yes you can. However, most eating utensils and beverages won't be allowed unless purchased beyond the security check point.

you are allowed to bring foods as long as they are dry foods so yes cookies and chips/crisps (English person here) would be allowed on the plane. you are not allowed to bring and liquids onto a plane as they will take them out when your going through security, however you can buy drinks in duty free shopping before you board the plane but its usually quite expensive i remember once it was £2.19 for a bottle of water!

Yes just bring plastic and they give you drinks on the plane. Many flights don't have food, I bring food all the time, I never know who has it & who doesn't. I am pretty sure I have had food and had my luggage searched. You may get it searched, but who cares, if you want to bring food bring it there is a pretty darn good chance of getting your luggage searched anyway. You can call the TSA if you want to be sure, but like I said I know I had food a couple of months ago and my luggage was searched and they said nothing about the food. They were looking at something else. I had Yogurt & Hummus & Pretzels.

Yes of course. As long as there are no liquids etc (and things like yougurt) food goes through TSA fine. Then whatever your purchase to eat on the secure side is able to go through.

of course you can.
