What can I bring onto the plane?

I'm going on a trip, what kind of detergent should/can I bring onto the plane?

  • I'm not sure if I should bring liquid or powdered detergent.

  • Answer:

You can definitely bring powdered detergent in either your carryon or your checked luggage. There is no limit or size restriction on dry or powdered items in your carryon luggage. The carryon restriction applies to gels, liquids, etc. Powdered detergent is probably the safer thing to travel wtih as liquids have a tendency to get outside their containers. Either way, use a ziploc bag to keep the contents secure The above answerer gave you a great solution in that shampoo is a great cleanser for handwashables. It dissolves oils and smells great - serves two purposes at once. Below is a list of items that the TSA will allow you to bring in your carry-on as well as checked luggage. Happy travels!

Other answers

Why not get some at your destination and problem is solved. You can also use shampoo to do the job.

I would suggest liquid in a small container, packed in your luggage. Powder is easily detected , then you will spend hours in security proving what it is.

You won't be able to bring any detergent powder or liquid in your carry on. As for checked baggage, you should be able to stow either but I would think powder would be less of a mess should it leak out.

Neither.Buy it when you get to your destination.
