What is the baggage allowance for my connecting flights?

I have connecting flights in another country. Do I have to get my baggage before I board my second flight?

  • I am flying from Boston to Amsterdam, then connecting to Newcastle England. After I arrive in Amsterdam do I have to get my luggage and bring it so it is in order for my flight to England? Or does the airport arrange that for me?

  • Answer:

It depends on if the airlines you are flying have an interline agreement. If they do, you'll be set. If not (for instance if you are flying on a budget carrier like RyanAir or EasyJet) you will need to re-claim and re-check them. You can find this out by calling the first airline you are flying and asking if your baggage will be checked through to its final destination. If you are flying the same airline for all segments you'll be fine. You should be able to remain in the transit area, which will mean you wouldn't need to claim and re-check your bags to go through customs. Good luck and safe travels!

Hello there If You're flying the Same Airline or Partner Airlines all the way then yes your bags will be checked all the way through, but if you're flying on two separate tickets then most likely you will have to claim your bags and then recheck them. Happy Travels!!

They will transfer your luggage for you. You may want to double check when you leave the plain in England but i've never heard of that happening. If they make you get your luggage you'd have to leave the concourse to recheck it then stand in security line again to get back through, it's a little ridiculous. lol so to sum up (lol) They transfer it for you, you don't have to worry about it.

It really depends. I just came from the airport last week and people with connecting flights had to transfer the bags themselves. However, a few years back, they did it for us. Your best bet is to ask your airline.

Sometimes yes, usually no. They will tell you when you check in at Boston. Just ask them if they can check your luggage through to your final destination.
