Do I need a Schengen Visa if I am the US permanent resident?

I need help with Schengen and UK visas?

  • Hello. Okay, so I got these multiple questions for you guys. I'm set to have a Europe tour this coming July and is still working on schengen & uk visa b/c I'm not a US citizen but is a legal resident in US. (I already checked my country of nationality, and yes I am positive that I need a schengen & uk visa.) Is it possible to have two different visas at my day of departure? Coz' I remember once reading from a website that someone can't have two different visas at the point of departure. I just want to clarify. And here's the itinerary: Day 1 - Fly to Netherlands; 2- Amsterdam; 3- Amsterdam; 4-Heidelberg; 5- Munich; 6--7-Venice; 8--9-Lucerne Region; 10- Colmar / Alsace Region; 11-12--Paris; 13-14--London; 15--Depart for home. As for my Schengen visa, what would be my main destination? Where should I apply? Will the process be all online? Or is there some kind of face-to-face interviews? I'm sorry, I know I should be reading this off of the website, but all the infos in a bunch got me more confused. O_O If my situation will be in a heck of trouble & hassle, I just might as well withdraw form the tour/program.~~ haist. Everyone's intelligent answers will be greatly appreciated! Thank you ^-^

    > Is it possible to have two different visas at my day of departure? You cannot have two valid Schengen or two valid U.K. visa in your passport. But it is no problem to have a valid Schengen visa and other visa of any non-Schengen countries (like the U.K.) in your passport. Since you do not have a main destination based on your itinerary you will need to apply for the visa through a mission of the Netherlands (country of first entry) in the United States. Schengen visa in general must be applied for in person. However some Embassies/Consulates in the U.S. allow visa applicants from remote areas to apply by mail. You need to check the requirements based on your (unknown) U.S. state of residence on the Dutch website. http://www.minbuza.nl/en/Services/Embassies_and_consulates/Dutch_embassies_and_consulates_abroad/U/United_States .. Not all Honorary Consulates are able to process visa applications. In the U.S. you can apply for the Schengen visa at the Dutch mission in Boston, Chicago, Houston, Los Angeles, Miami, New York, Orlando, San Francisco, and Washington. Some Honorary Consulates however collect the applications and forward them to the Embassy against an additional fee to be paid. Visa applications can be made up to 90 days prior to the proposed travel date. Visa fee €60 [~$88]. The visa for the United Kingdom must be filled and paid for online by credit card. During the application process you will be able to make an appointment with the nearest USCIS office to have your biometrics and fingerprints taken. You will then mail your printed out application together with your supporting documents to the U.K. Border Agency office which covers your state of residence. At present all applicants except those residing in California must send the application to the U.K. Border Agency in New York. The visa will in general be granted based upon the application and the supporting documents forwarded. A face-to-face interview is only required in exceptional cases. The visa fee is presently £70; it is planned to be increased to £76 [$126]. For details select "U.S." and "How to apply" here: https://www.visainfoservices.com/Pages/Welcome.aspx .. Again the visa application can be made up to 90 days prior to travel. I recommend to apply for the U.K. visa at first. They do not ask for flight ticket reservations to be necessarily be provided with the application. Once your passport contains the U.K. visa you do not need to show a return flight ticket to the United States but can provide a flight or train ticket reservation from Paris to London as proof of your intend to leave the Schengen zone after your visit.
