What is the best way to ship overseas?

What's the best way to ship stuff from Canada (Ottawa) to the US (Los Angeles)?

• Someone I know is getting ready to relocate to the United States and they were wondering what the best way to ship their stuff was. From what I understand they're not looking to move any furniture or large items only box size things. For example clothing, books, knickknacks and possibly a small stereo. Also they're guessing It probably won't be more than 10 boxes worth of stuff and certainly not more than 15. What's the best way in terms of balancing out cost, safety and simplicity? We know there is the Postal Service but is there some sort of point-to-point freight option that would be a better way of doing things? PS the person is flying therefore it's not like they can load up a car or anything. Thanks in advance for your help.

  you could try fedex as well, you don't say where they are shipping to (is a home? Business? Hotel?) if you send something fedex -a lot of Fedex service centers (including Fedex Kinkos offer what is called HAL (hold at location)its sent to the closest Fedex service center/Fedex Kinko's of the senders choice and recipient can pick their packages that way (its service since a lot of Fedex Kinkos are open 24 hours)
